IPL-Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina, is dashing left handed batsmen, who hail from Uttar Pradesh. He has become an integral part of ODI squad ,as well T 20 squad, with his string of consistent and breathtaking performance.

He was not a one day wonder, who rose to fame all of a sudden. In fact he has represented India U -19, Uttar Pradesh U -16 teams, where he showed immense potential and promise, which earned him a royal crown of representing India in International match. He was one of the pivotal reasons for Uttar Pradesh top performance in 2005 – 2006 season.

He made his debut in 2005 against Srilanka, as a teenager even though he performed well, lack of experience and pressure of International cricket engulfed his potential. Later he was dumped out of International side in 2007, where he played only two matches in that year.

He has average of 35. 40 in ODI, along with an impressive strike rate of above 86, which tells the great deal of his hitting capability and he has already notched up couple of hundreds under his name in just 22 years of age.

He has played only four T 20 matches, with an impressive average of 49. 61 and with highest score of 61 which came in his recent outing against New Zealand. He also has played 20 Twenty 20 matches with an average of 40.

He plays for IPL, under franchise of Chennai Super Kings, where he flaunted his heavy hitting abilities in last season of IPL. In fact it is where he started as a top order batsman, a change from his usual middle order position.

He impressed Indian Captain Mahendara Singh Dhoni that he earned a recall from indian selectors in CB series in Australia, from where he has been integral part of Indian ODI side. He scored a century against Pakistan in Pakistan, to stamp his return. He also proved his cricketing skills outside sub – continent; his performance in recent New Zealand series is testimony to the statement, where he had a strike rate of above 160.

Even though he is yet to make his debut in test matches, for India; things appear very positive for him to make his test debut soon. Greg Chappel, before he left job as Indian Coach, has submiited a detailed report, where he predicts that Raina has incredible potential and he is a star in making, which is becoming a reality.
